This toy was created in 1914 by two men who saw children playing with sticks and empty thread spools. It sold over one million a year or two after it was introduced. The earlier sets were natural wood however they were colored in the late 1950’s. Tinkertoys were inducted in 1998 into the National Toy Hall of Fame located in Rochester, New York.
