At one time woman’s hats were very popular. They were worn to social events and to church. When not in use, they were stored in hat boxes for protection. This hat box is from Arnold Constable Department Store. Their main store was on Fifth Avenue in New York City. They also had a very nice store on the corner of Main and Passaic Streets in Hackensack
