Before today’s microwave ovens this bottomless metal box was placed on the stove top of the wood burning stove. The farmer worked from sun up to sun down, so when dinner was prepared for the rest of the family, the farmer’s dinner was placed into the food warmer to keep warm until he came in from his day in the field.
